2009 – Bill Plympton Day
May 9, 2009 was Bill Plympton Day at the Oregon Sesquicentennial Film Festival at Marylhurst. Oregon Cartoon Institute partnered with Marylhurst to bring Plympton to join James Ivory, and Gus Van Sant at a ten day festival celebrating Oregon films and filmmakers. In addition to introducing his latest award winning feature, Idiots and Angels, Bill Plympton introduced two programs of Oregon animation, taught a workshop and attended a reception on his behalf at the Art Gym. A two time Oscar nominee, Bill Plympton was born and raised in Oregon City and educated at Portland State University. Bill is an honorary member of Oregon Cartoon Institute.
